Introducing the project
An international network of concerned actors
The Observatory for Responsible Innovation is based at Mines ParisTech (the Ecole des Mines de Paris, now part of PSL Research University) and is part of the Interdisciplinary Institute on Innovation, a joint CNRS unit of Télécom ParisTech, Mines ParisTech and the École Polytechnique. It aims at assembling an international network of concerned actors: researchers from various backgrounds, practitioners from a variety of industrial sectors, actors involved in public policy at local and global levels, and contributors to the funding of the initiative.
The Observatory is funded primarily through the Foundation of Mines ParisTech, which manages individual and institutional donations for the development of projects linked to Mines ParisTech. Contact us for further information about how to fund and promote the continuity of the Observatory for Responsible Innovation.
Gathering key contributors in the field of responsible innovation
The Observatory for Responsible Innovation relies on a network of participants and collaborators that contribute at various levels. Its main academic resources are the CSI (Centre de sociologie de l'innovation), the CERNA (Centre d'économie industrielle), the CGS (Centre de gestion scientifique), the ISIGE (Institut supérieur d'ingénierie et de gestion de l'environnement) and the CRC (Centre de recherche sur les risques et les crises) at Mines ParisTech, the Département SES (Sciences économiques et sociales) at Télécom ParisTech, and the CRG (Centre de recherche en gestion) at the École Polytechnique.
A core group of Executive Staff handles the coordination of the Observatory’s activities. Members of the Executive Committee discuss the main orientations and take the main decisions. They represent the social science research centers at Mines ParisTech and Telecom ParisTech, and the FI3M. Members of the Advisory Committee act in a consultative capacity providing various forms of expert input and feedback. Members of the Working Groups discuss and develop policy initiatives and ideas in collaboration with wider communities of relevant actors.
How to participate in the Observatory?
The Observatory for Responsible Innovation is open to collaboration and participation. The Observatory’s blog is open to commentaries and suggestions, the working groups are seeking dialogue with wider audiences and the Observatory as a whole is also looking for help in the funding of its initiatives.
